Purple is Top Pick for Homer Laughlin in 2006
New Heather Fiesta® Adds Warmth and Excitement to Tabletop Décor
Newell, WV, March 12-14, 2006 — This year color trends can be summed up in two words – warm and inviting. According to color experts and color forecasts for 2006, hues that are inviting and provide a sense of warmth and excitement – particularly in the dining room – are setting the standard this year.
The key color setting this current trend is the soft-hued purple that is typically found in nature. These gentle purple shades bring a sense of balance and harmony, making them a favorite for decorating and design. Their warm hues give them an ethereal quality that helps create a unique statement.
The Homer Laughlin China Company is helping set this trend with the introduction of its newest color in their popular Fiesta® line – Heather. Like the soft purple flowers it’s so aptly named after, the recent addition to the Fiesta® color family has a warm purple hue that adds a casual yet sophisticated style to any tabletop.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and founder and director of the Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training, says soft purple colors are perfect for the tabletop because you can easily mix and match them with other colors.
“The soft heathered purples work extremely well with so many other shades such as muted greens, mineral blues and the re-emerging smoky grays, making for a calming new interplay of color on the tabletop,” says Eiseman.
Heather works best with complementary Fiesta® colors such as, Sunflower, Persimmon, Shamrock and Turquoise. But with more than 50 items and 14 colors to choose from in the Fiesta® line you’ll be able to create tabletop designs that reflect your individual style and unique personality.
In addition to the 4- and 5-piece place settings, the Fiesta® line contains a full array of pieces including plates, platters, bowls, cups, vases and the signature Disc Pitcher. Due to the popularity of Fiesta® with collectors and enthusiasts, this year the product line has been extended to include new items, including a Fiesta® Flower Pot and Saucer.
Heather hits stores this October and will be available in many fine department and specialty stores, in addition to mail order catalogs and on-line retailers. The suggested retail price for the Heather Fiesta® place settings is $43.
Homer Laughlin adds Alpha Alumina to its Fiesta® china to enhance durability, chip resistance and provide superior heat retention. All Homer Laughlin China is lead free.
Designed by Frederick Hurton Rhead in 1936, FiestaÒ is now the most collected china in the United States and among the most collected china in the world. It has been featured on many popular TV programs, including ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover and the Today Show. The product was discontinued in 1973 and reissued in 1986 with new contemporary colors to mark its 50th anniversary. Its unique Art Deco style has landed Fiesta® in the collections of numerous museums
from the Smithsonian Institution to the Andy Warhol Museum.
Today Fiesta® is an American icon that is available in many fine department and specialty stores, in addition to mail order catalogs and online retailers. For more information, please visit www.hlchina.com or call 800.452.4462.
